COOP: Continuity of Operations Planning, maintaining vital government services in all conditions. The purpose of Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) is to:
- Ensure the continued operation of organizations through a disaster (man-made, natural, technological) or a biological event (pandemic flu, anthrax, etc.)
- Facilitate the preparation of, site or activity specific plans and procedures that help ensure the safety of personnel
- Allow organizational elements to continue essential operations in the event of an emergency or threat emergency
